If you’re from Hawai’i, you’ve probably already heard or seen that the Oxford English Dictionary has added Hammajang (They spell it all Hamajang :) and Howzit to the dictionary. It’s exciting to see the language be embraced in this way.
Even Charlize Theron loves Hamajang!
Adoboloco has been using Hawai’i Pidgin proudly on all of our packaging since the very beginning (8 Years Now… Wow time flys). Being born and raised in Hawai’i, co-founder Tim Parsons felt it’s just part of the brand and Hawai’i Pidgin is one of the most common languages used in Hawai’i. We grew up speaking it with friends and family. At home and in class it usually wasn’t accepted. I can see the creative writing some kids are going to be doing with these words… Makes us smile :)
So… I challenge you, use Hamajang and Howzit in a sentence today. Would love to hear what you come up with in the comments below.
Eh no get Hamajang this weekend…. Alohaz Braddhas and Sistahs
