This is a very seasonal flavor. When we make it, is based on when we can harvest and collect enough of the tiny Hawaiian Chili Peppers. Each pepper only measures about 3/4″ – 1.25″. Due to the pepper size it’s not considered a commercially viable pepper crop. But we love Hawaiian Chili Peppers! So we continue to grow them, buy them from other farmers and will make the next batch once we have enough of them.

The Hawaiian Chili pepper has been in Hawaii for over 100 years. It was originally introduced to Hawaii by the Portuguese immigrants moving here to work in the cane fields. This little pepper packs a punch with flavor and heat. It’s had a huge impact on Hawaii’s wonderful melting pot of culinary treats. You can find it growing wild almost anywhere. People use it when preparing so many different local dishes.
