HAMAJANG in Pidgin English means “messed up”. 60% of of the sauce is Kiawe (relative to Mesquite) Smoked fresh Bhut Jolokia ( Ghost Peppers ) and 40% fresh Habanero. So you’re asking what’s messed up about it? It’s not the sauce that’s messed up but it could mess you up if you decide to eat to much of it at once. It’s VERY HOT, you’ll be able to enjoy the flavors and some really, really good heat. We suggest you take it slow because Ghost Pepper heat builds over 20-30 minutes and will catch some people off guard. Hamajang is super good on hearty meals, grilled/bbq meats, vegetables, beef or lengua tacos and burritos and pretty much anything else you want to add serious flavor and kick to.

Tried this on my chicken wrap at Tucker & Bevy in Kapahulu (the old Sam Choy’s). The wrap was delicious but when the cook told me to try this sauce (for the 1st time), wow, it punched it up another notch. They told me I can get this at Whole Foods or on-line. Alas, the site said you were out till March. I guess I have to trek on down to WholeFoods. I try my best to buy local & was looking for a hot sauce to replace my Tabasco, this fits the bill and then some!

Just about to write off Ghost Peppers all together, but tried this in a clear broth turkey soup after thanksgiving and it was amazing. Tried it in some Pho too, it’s good stuff.
